Frederick Research Center (FRC)
Frederick Research Center (FRC) is a leading research non-profit organization in Cyprus. It was established in 1997 in order to create a solid foundation for the development of scientific research activities of Cypriot and foreign scientists. FRC’s main goals are:
- to promote scientific research and science in general and to undertake and conduct research of basic and applied nature in various domains
- to encourage participation and development of RDI proposals, as well as the sound implementation of externally funded RDI projects,
- to establish collaborations with other national and international research Centers and Universities, as well as SMEs for the execution of research work
The Cyprus Institute (CyI)
The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European, non-profit science and technology educational and research institution based in Cyprus. One of its four research centres, the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC), serves to combine a supercomputing infrastructure with research and education in computational and data science. Research within CaSToRC focuses on multi-scale computational modelling of materials, lattice gauge simulations, climate modelling, computational biology and medical imaging, prototyping activities, and visualization. Since 2008, CaSToRC has represented Cyprus in PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), contributing Tier-1 resources and other activities. CaSToRC has a close partnership with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications of the University of Illinois. It also has a collaboration agreement with the Jülich Supercomputing Centre for the promotion of common activities. Since 2012, CaSToRC has provided computational resources to Cypriot and Eastern Mediterranean (EM) researchers. It has played a regional role in bridging the Eastern
Mediterranean by supporting researchers to advance HPC-related research, demonstrated through
projects such as LinkSCEEM, VI-SEEM, and BEATS (H2020 project).
